Werken aan het guesthouse in de herfstvakantie
Nieuwsbrief december 2016
Beste vrienden,
Naar aanleiding van het bezoek aan Rong Vean van Thierry en Carlos, willen we jullie opnieuw een nieuwsbrief sturen.
Thierry en Carlos hebben daar veel werk verricht : het voornaamste doel was deze keer het nieuwe guesthouse volledig in orde te brengen, want bouwen op afstand is niet evident !
In het guesthouse kunnen vrijwilligers, stagiairs, gasten en toeristen verblijven. Het huis heeft alle basisvoorzieningen en ligt op een heel mooie locatie met een mooi zicht.
Vakmanschap
Na aankomst gingen Carlos en Thierry onmiddellijk naar de stad Sisiphon om er allerlei materiaal te kopen voor de keuken, meubilair bij een lokale timmerman te bestellen, om deksels van waterreservoirs te kopen en nog veel meer !

Vergadering onder het muskietennet
Dan terug in het dorp hielpen ze kasten samenstellen, bevestigden ze ventilatoren aan het plafond, brachten ze het pompsysteem in orde, hingen ze een reuzegroot muskietennet op om de avonden aangenaam te kunnen doorbrengen zonder muggen enz ….
Het resultaat mag er zijn: het guesthouse is klaar!

Er kwam ook bezoek uit België : Manu en Petra Van Parys en hun 3 kinderen : Nestor, Madelaine en Marie-Louise.
Ze verbleven 3 dagen in het dorp en hier hoor je de kinderen over hun ervaringen …

Toen we aankwamen in Cambodja zagen we allemaal blije en vrolijke gezichten. Dat was heel mooi om te zien ! Maar ik schrok wel een
Marie-Louise op stap
beetje hoe zij daar woonden en leefden in armoede. Want dit is zeker iets helemaal anders als in België. Maar toen dacht ik we zijn hier om te helpen en met de mensen die het project gesteund hebben. En daar was ik heel trots op. Maar toen we daar toe kwamen in Rong Vean waren alle mensen heel vriendelijk. We hebben eerst het dorp verkend en we hebben dan ook nog eens het schooltje bezocht. En daarna hebben we nog wat met de kindjes gespeeld. En we hebben de kindjes dan wat speelgoed en kleren gegeven. En we hebben elke dag heel veel met de kindjes gespeeld. En dat was de MAX !!!!! Het was daar ook elke dag mooi weer en de gecko was onze mascotte van het guesthouse Hihihihi ! Voor het mooie afscheid hadden ze een feest georganiseerd en dat was MEGA LEUK !!!!

stelde ik me wel veel vragen : hoe zal het daar zijn ? Hoe zijn de mensen daar ? Hoe en waar leven ze ? En daar heb ik antwoord op gekregen. Het is echt mooi hoe je daar de kinderen ziet spelen en plezier maken ook al hebben ze niet zoveel. Ze grijpen hun kansen. En stuk voor stuk zijn het kinderen met eigen talenten. Ze zijn echt. De Max !!! Je denkt wel soms hoe jammer is het eigenlijk dat ze zo moeten leven maar zij denken er niet zo over, ze denken vooruit, ze zijn blij met wat ze hebben. En dat kun je van ons niet zeggen …J
De school die het goede doel gebouwd heeft is ook super, ze proberen echt om zoveel mogelijk te helpen. Help for the children is het mooiste project voor mij. Ik heb gezien hoe ze daar leven en toch gelukkig zijn, ik kan er alleen maar mijn les uit leren. Ik mis ze allemaal en ik zal ze nooit vergeten, dank je wel xxx

Bij deze zou ik jullie nog eens willen bedanken voor de mooie dagen in jullie zeer gezellige en superleuke dorpje van jullie project. Ik vond
Nestor en zijn vrienden
het echt zeer leuk om het daar eens te mogen zien en te kunnen spelen met de fantastische kindjes die altijd vrolijk zijn, je altijd happy maken, en zeer dankbaar zijn voor alles wat je doet voor hen. ook heb ik een zeer goede band gecreêerd met mijn beste vriend Samey over wie jullie vooraf hadden verteld dat het een zeer leuke en slimme jongen is. Al vanaf de eerste dag wist ik al dat je gelijk had en dat het echt een fantastische jongen was !!!Ik heb met hem zeer vele mooie momenten gehad waarvan een unieke morgen met hem op de brommer en in de school. Ik heb ook gezien dat hij echt zijn kans wil grijpen ebn dat hij hem ook echt wil inzetten voor alles. Niet alleen op schoolgebied maar ook in de voetbal en voor andere activiteiten. Hij nam altijd de leiding over de groep en probeerde alles dat ik hem zei in het Engels te verstaan en aan de andere kinderen uit te leggen. Ik heb dan ook aan hem mijn voetbalschoenen gegeven en hij glunderde van geluk ! Dit raakt me echt wel ! Het was dan ook heel moeilijk om afscheid te nemen van hem, maar ik hoop dat ik kan blijven contact opnemen met hem, dat ik hem verder kan opvolgen en dat ik misschien ooit eens kan terugkeren.
Natuurlijk had ik ook mooie momenten met alle andere kindjes van het dorp en was het voetballen met hen allen zeer leuk. Ik ben blij dat ze door de ballen van Club Brugge ook nu nog kunnen blijven voetballen.
Ik denk nog elke dag terug aan het dorp en hoe de mensen daar nu leven. Ik zou het dus wel leuk vinden moest ik op de hoogte gehouden worden. Nog eens super bedankt !!!
Thierry met de 3 studentes van Hogent
Er verblijven ook 3 studentes orthopedagogie in het dorp : ze werken er 3 maanden : Ine, Tatjana en Florence.
Ze brengen het hele dorp socio – economisch in kaart, ze werken met de gehandicapten en in de scholen van Rong Vean en Phnom Srok.

De studentes worden bijgestaan door 3 Cambodjaanse meisjes:
Hien Sayuon, Mak Kim Lay en Srey Aoch die hen tolken, gidsen en helpen.
Thierry evalueerde hun werk en stuurde bij waar nodig.
Ziekenhuis in Phnom Srok
Thierry bezocht ook opnieuw een ziekenhuis waar hij een nieuwe stageplaats opzette voor voor 8 studenten geneeskunde van Ugent. De studenten zijn vertrokken op 1 december om 5 maanden stage te lopen in Phnom Srok, die de dichtstbijzijnde stad is, en ze verblijven voor de periode in ons dorp.
In november hebben we beslist om van onze tijdelijke vereniging een vzw te maken, de aanvraag daarvoor is nu ingediend. We hebben deze beslissing genomen om onze vereniging rechtsgeldig te maken en administratief in orde te zijn. We zijn verheugd dat verschillende mensen ons hierin willen steunen ( Ingrid Leroy, Katrien Demedts, Petra Swyngedouw, Claudine Bracke, Lieselot Dalewyn, Geert Opsomer, Carlos Christiaens ) en officieel lid geworden zijn van onze vzw, naast Thierry en Katrien die de dagelijkse leiding hebben.
Verder willen we jullie een vrolijk kerst en eindejaar wensen en jullie bedanken voor het blijvend geloof in ons project.
